Classroom Information
Arrival/Dismissal
We will open the doors to the classroom at 7:55 on most mornings. The exception to this rule will be if there is a meeting in the classroom before school. On the rare occasion that this happens, we ask you to please be patient and encourage your child's patience, too. Please try your hardest to get to school by 8:00. It is important for your child to join the group on time so that they not only feel like a part of the community, but also have a chance to settle in before we officially begin our day. In kindergarten we also stress the importance of independence. Once the year is in full-swing, we will encourage all children to carry their own backpack, hang their own belongings inside of cubbies, put their orange take-home folders where they belong, and find their group for morning activities. Pick up will be at 2:30 at the classroom Monday-Thursday, and at 1:40 on Fridays. A teacher will open the door and dismiss children one at a time at the end of the day.
Snack/Lunch (**SNACK MUST BE COMPLETELY NUT-FREE)
Families will provide children with snack each day. Please send a healthy (examples: fruit, cheese, crackers, juice box) snack that is clearly labeled as snack. Differentiating what is snack can sometimes be confusing if children also bring a lunch from home. Please also be sure to include the appropriate utensils for your child's snack.
Birthdays
I have gone back and forth with birthday policies and I have found that the best plan is to make our classroom “treat-free.” Each child will be recognized in a small for his or her birthday (including summer birthdays). If you would like to come in to read a story to the class, or send in a book to be read to KC, please let us know!
Take-Home Folders
Please make sure to check your child’s take-home folder every night, and send it back to school in the morning. The amount of materials going home will vary from day to day, which is why it is important to take a moment to check the folder before sending it back to school.
